March 2010 – Vancouver’s LiveCity Downtown
The event took place in the months of February and March.
The three games set up for the event had a record number of participants: an average of one player per minute. The result was a total of 4,253 plays in the first seven days!
Curling
Curling is a sport in which players slide eight stones across an ice rink towards a target area.
After launching the stones, team members (sweepers) use brushes to push the stones along or change their direction. The amount of points received by each team depends on how close to the target the stones end up.
In the SIA version, participants can play against the system or their friends, throwing their stones towards the screen and using the brushes to get them closer to the target.
Slapshot
Slapshot is the hardest shot in ice hockey. In this game, participants see the puck, the goal and the goalkeeper and must make as many penalty shots as possible in a short period of time.
Snowboard
The snowboard simulator is an attractive game with a giant screen, audio and an actual snowboard that allows players to do real moves as they make their way down the hill.
