December 2007 – Argentina
In the past few years, and thanks to the growing interest in the sustained development of the software and IT industry, Argentina has recognized the individuals, institutions and companies responsible for the most important advances in IT with the “Sadosky Awards for Argentine Excellence.”
The Chamber of Software and IT Service Companies (CESSI), comprised of well-known members of the industry, hosted an awards ceremony at the Hilton Hotel in Buenos Aires.
Attendees included the future president of Argentina, Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner; the Ministers of Labor, Education, Science and Technology; ambassadors from France and the United States, and more than 600 representatives from the principle software companies across the world.
At this event, SIA Interactive received the Applied Technology Award for its innovative developments Cameraction and Engine3D for Macromedia Flash.
Cameraction is a set of technologies that allows interaction between people and machines through sophisticated video processing mechanisms. This allows a videogame to be controlled through a webcam that captures the player’s movements and incorporates them into the game.
Cameraction has been used by several of the leading Fortune 500 companies in interactive games and in new advertising media such as the interactive floor and the interactive bar, which were presented at the awards ceremony.
Engine3D for Macromedia Flash is a revolutionary technology that consolidates the functions of the Plug-in Flash, allowing clients to develop 3-D games without having to install any ActiveX controls or additional technology. It includes a module that imports geometry developed in 3DMax and integrates both the multimedia functions as well as the consolidation in a single Flash framework.
The Engine3D system has been highly popular and only months after the launch of its first version, it has been successfully used on more than 20 projects implemented across the world for customers such as American Express, Nestlé, Unilever, Mondi AG, etc.
SIA is currently working to integrate the SIA-MP1 multiplayer engine to allow clients to develop multiplayer games.
During the event, two implementations of these tools were presented with the latest technology development: the Cameraction Bar, an interactive bar with a multi-touch surface that reacts to the touch of a glass. In addition, it has Bluetooth connectivity and additional tools to allow you to create user groups and social interaction.
The second implementation was an Interactive Floor with Cameraction Soccer, which simulates a soccer match through a camera that allows capture and recognition of player movements.
All participants were very interested in the activities, and even Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner was enthralled with the Interactive Floor. The future president showed off her soccer skills in a few Cameraction Soccer matches.
