November 2007 – Argentina
In November, Argentina celebrated the 100th anniversary of the national gas and oil industry at the "Argentina Oil & Gas Expo 2007.” The biggest industry players all attended this trade show held at La Rural Expo Center in Palermo.
As part of the event, Eitech was looking for a way to distinguish its client YPF, the leading firm in Argentina’s oil industry. To achieve this, the agency asked SIA Interactive to develop a series of interactive games and activities for the YPF booth.
SIA Interactive’s solutions helped make YPF’s booth one of the most eye-catching at the expo.
Thousands of people learned about processes and elements of the industry in an original, fun way while associating the company with education and culture.
The solutions designed by SIA Interactive included:
Virtual Catalogue
Implemented on a 42-inch touch screen, participants could press on different parts of the ship “Gico Triton” to see information about its structure and operations, with an audio recording of the text shown on screen.
Drag and Drop Game
The Drag and Drop game allowed participants to be part of the sea floor mapping process carried out by the “Gico Triton”.
To do so, the participant donned a virtual glove (without cables) and used it to drag and drop the tools used in the process to one side of the screen according to the game instructions, which were provided on a sound track.
The glove utilized refractive material that was detected by a camera situated atop the plasma screen.
Refinery Trivia and Chemistry Trivia
Refinery Trivia showed the refining process, letting visitors see how the extracted material is treated for different uses. The participant had to answer questions to move through each phase from the top of the tower down to the bottom.
The Chemistry Trivia tested the public’s knowledge of the chemical processes used by the company. The two trivia games had 4 wireless controls to operate the games, which were displayed on 42” plasma screens.
Virtual Reality Guided Tour
The Virtual Guided Tour took visitors through a YPF gas station.
The camera then entered the gas pump and the visitor had to align the Gasoil Bio logo with the center of the screen.
This was done on a circular platform with a push button and a virtual reality helmet, generating an environment that was both entertaining and educational.
Art Exhibition
The Art Exhibition corresponding to the program “Argentina Pinta Bien” (“Argentina Paints Well,”) was implemented on three Vikuiti rear projection screens.
The works were projected on the side opposite the participant, who had to move his/her hands from left to right to advance from one work to the next (or right to left, to go back to the previous work).
The movements were captured by a camera positioned above the participant that sent the information to the computer connected to each screen.
Vikuiti screens have high definition and contrast and boast the largest size among plasma screens.
