April 2007 – Santiago, La Serena and Viña del Mar, Chile
The agency Neovento Marketing Group asked SIA Interactive to develop a Virtual Tennis game for Powerade, the thirst quenching drink specially designed for sports lovers by Coca Cola. The game was part of Coca Cola’s summer campaign, “Challenge Fernándo González.”
The solution chosen was a Virtual Tennis match in which participants “played” against a 3-D model of the top Chilean tennis player in a simulation with a real tennis racket connected to movement sensors that made the experience more realistic.
The implementation requiring that participants make a purchase was held on beaches and supermarkets, while no purchase was required to participate at universities.
It was the first time that a game of this kind was implemented in Chile, and the public’s response was overwhelming: more than 15,000 participants came to play and were impressed with the game’s realism. At all sales point where a purchase was required to participate, there were regular stock shortages throughout the promotion.
