For Ballantine's theme parties, SIA Spain developed a
Virtual Snowboard and a Guess the Scene Game on Promoman at the
request of the MPP agency. The success of the games led the company to request
a web version and CD Rom of the snowboard game.
February 2004 - Madrid, Spain.
Ballantine's has been supporting snowboard for more than a
decade.
This year, the XII Ballantine's Snowboard Circuit
will be held; this event takes place at the best spots on
the peninsula, and it will end on 3-4 April with the Spanish
Championship in Sierra Nevada.
In addition, the firm has begun a series of "Go Snow Experience"
parties.
Held at the top clubs in principal cities, these
parties have been a big hit thanks to the fact that they are
modern, fun, and incorporate advanced technology.
As part
of this promotional campaign, SIA Spain created two attractions:
a Virtual Snowboard and a Guess the Scene Game mounted on
a PromoMan.
Both games were personalized with different components
of the brand identity, and both were designed to reflect the
spirit of the Ballantine's Snowboard Circuit.
"Ballantine's is continually working to improve its activities,
and it is always looking for new, modern, and attractive alternatives.
The solutions offered by SIA Spain were the perfect answer
to this demand, and Ballantine's public is responding with
high levels of participation. As the client, we have been
more than satisfied with this response".
Virtual Snowboard
The Virtual Snowboard is a 3-D multiplayer game (one player
races against another): the game recreates a Slalom slope,
and it was rotated at different bars and discos across Spain.
Participants get on a specially designed platform, and strap
on the boards and the Virtual Reality Helmet.
Through the
use of RV technology, players experience the sensation of
immersion, just like real skiers going down the slope.
The
game was so popular among consumers that the firm requested
that SIA develop a web version and
CD Rom with the game.
Guess the Scene
The Guess the Scene game showed videos with snowboard scenes
that freeze at a given point on the slope.
Participants have
to guess how the scene ends, selecting from a menu with several
options.
The added attraction of this game is that it was
installed in a PromoMan, an itinerant interactive terminal
that is carried by a promoter as if it were a backpack.
